Why Do We Call Them “Truffles?”
Chocolate truffles were named after a rare European fungus (Tuber melanosporum) because of their lumpy and bumpy appearance. While many of the major chocolate truffle manufacturers (even some of the smaller chocolatiers) use machines and molds to produce the “perfect,” “uniform” shape, we at Parfections believe this comes at a price. Parfections upholds the tradition of handmade chocolates. Every truffle we sell is given individual, loving attention and that is the reason for their extraordinary taste and sensuous texture. Plus, whoever heard of a perfectly shaped truffle? The fungus we mean!
